The Oculus Rift

Hi there! I'll be informing you about a new technology coming out that will impress all those gamers out there. Enjoy!

What is it?

Have you ever fantasized that it was you actually in a video game pulling off all those amazing stunts and going on an adventure? Well, with the Oculus rift, you are able to take a step into the game with only one developer kit. Developed by the Oculus VR, the oculus rift is a platform designed for a virtual reality gaming experience. It is a technology gadget that covers the eyes and makes 3-dimentional images appear. It all started off from a project on Kickstarter created by a user who recieved a multi-million dollar fund.

How does it Work?

Using the oculus rift is actually quite simple. Assembling the rift is required, though when completed, you are able to adjust it to find the best needed focal point for your eyes. It fits just like a pair of ski goggles and are comfortable. If you are someone who wears glasses, you can wear your glasses under the rift visor, no taking off of the glasses is required. There is also a menu where you can adjust the software for any visual type that meets your needs. It is said that "Everyone will be able to see 20/20 in virtual reality".

When placed on your eyes, you are able to now view the game right through your eyes and can began playing, using a controller (shown in video below).

 Pros?

When reading more and more about the oculus rift, I have found many reasons to why this gadget should be out on the market. First of all, many of us love video games, have loved video games or at the least played a couple of them. But how many of us can actually say you've been "inside" a video game? With this outstanding creation, we can all take a step into the actual game and experience something new and adventurous. As mentioned above, we all have different eye types and with the available adjustments and softwares to meet our exact needs, everyone who tries it can feel that they fit in, as your eye sight will absolutely NOT affect what you see in the rift. What I also find good about this product is that it's "different". There has been so many new technology coming out but it mainly has to do with social media. This involoves all those cellular devices, laptops and computers, as well as tablets. The oculus rift is a new creation and I like that because it's not just a new updated version of a playstation or xbox, it's is a gadget that allows you to experience something great through various game stations.

 Cons?

There was just the one disadvantage I have found regarding the oculus rift, which is addiction. What I mean by this is that a lot of people are already addicted to playing video games, and some people spend over 10 hours a day on them. If such a great gadget is owned by many individuals, it might create a bigger addiction to video games and we already have enough people addicted to other things like social media and the internet. As this technology creates a wonderful experience, people using the gadget should be warned about the use of it, as they shouldn't be taking it for granted and playing on it 24/7.

Watch the video below to see someone using the oculus rift-- it's like actual driving (great practice!)

Buy it or Not?

In my opinion, I would definetely purchase an oculus rift, trying it out would be something great to go through. Many say that the one weakness to it is not seeing the real world while playing it. Using the rift is like being in a movie, facing things you would never imagine facing. You are also able to face things you've been afraid of your whole life, for example: you can practice being on the road driving for those who are scared of driving and you can also master high heights with climbing games. It is just a never ending list of possibilities that can be mastered with the one gadget. So if I were you, I would get onto that pre-order list right now and start doing some more reasearch on this gadget!

  1. Do you believe that this could replace the traditional console? Or could it work together to create a whole new experience? Also what sort of price tag do you believe this device will have as that always plays an important part.
